Consultation workshop for the development of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) vision and roadmap for the Northern Mozambique Channel (NMC) region
Consultation workshop for the development of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) vision and roadmap for the Northern Mozambique Channel (NMC) region
The Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region is prioritizing sustainable blue economy, ocean governance, and marine spatial planning (MSP). The NMC region, known for its biodiversity, has the potential to become a World Heritage Site. However, the NMC faces challenges due to increasing demand for resources and the discovery of offshore reserves. To address these issues, a regional workshop will be held in Maputo, Mozambique, aiming to develop a regional MSP vision and roadmap for the NMC. The workshop will involve various stakeholders and will use a participatory approach facilitated by consultants from Nelson Mandela University. Expected outcomes include a common vision for MSP, recommendations, a draft roadmap, and defined next steps.
