Training Workshop: Implementation of the Strategic Framework on Water Quality at national and sub-national levels in the WIO region

This workshop will be held in Durban, South Africa between 4-8 March 2024.

The training is being held to support capacity building in 5 regional countries as part implementation of Nairobi Convention Decision CP.10/10. Water Quality and Marine litter which requested the Secretariat to establish a regional task force on water quality to support the development of a water quality monitoring framework and guidelines on national interventions, and for adoption by a meeting of national focal points before the eleventh meeting of the Contracting of Parties. The 5 countries made an express request to the Secretariat on capacity-building support for effective water quality monitoring and management at national/site level.

The training will help to cascade the regional WQ Strategic Framework to country/site level for improved water quality as per Component B of the WIOSAP project.
