The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change has a data center that collects and stores data. The data center includes a GEO-database, web portal (UNEP) and other data repositories for the Ministry. It has a vast databank of marine/biological oceanographic data and includes some geological oceanographic data.
An Ecoalert Web app was also initiated in Seychelles, used as a reporting platform accessible to the public for reporting any illegal environmental incident. The web app is accessible through a web page www.ecoalert.gov.sc on any web browser.
More information on Seychelles is available at the Nairobi Convention Clearinghouse which is a ‘data reference centre’ in the Western Indian Ocean region, providing accurate and relevant data and information for improved management and protection of the coastal and marine environment in the Western Indian Ocean region.
