The Nairobi Convention Secretariat is partnering with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through collaboration in a project entitled the “Western Indian Ocean Governance Initiative” (WIOGI); a project implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
WIOGI’s approach in developing a Western Indian Ocean Information Management Strategy is participatory, regional, multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder. One of the primary components of WIOGI is the development of two strategies – an ocean governance strategy and an information management strategy (IMS).
