The visualizations below showcase the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Kenya and was generated from our Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) Outlook that was produced in collaboration with the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA).

a) * This is also Aichi Biodiversity Target 11 on conservation of 10% of coastal and marine areas, especially areas of particular importance for biodiversity and ecosystem services by 2020.
b) The Malindi–Watamu National Reserve (MWNR) MPA area has been included within the Watamu Marine National Park (WMNP).
c) All the MPAs have been assigned IUCN categories. The national reserves have been categorised as IUCN category VI and all Marine Park have been categorised as IUCN category II.
