Celebrating World Environment Day and World Oceans Day 2021

With World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June) approaching, the Nairobi Convention Secretariat is excited to share updates on how countries and stakeholders are working to protect, conserve, and manage the Western Indian Ocean region.

In recognition of ecosystem restoration’s benefits for the environment, economy, and livelihoods, Nairobi Convention states and partners have embarked on ambitious activities to help prevent and reverse ecosystem degradation – from rehabilitating seagrass beds in Mozambique to restoring mangroves in Tanzania to seabird habitat restoration in Mauritius, to name a few.
