Márcia Marques
Márcia Marques holds a MSc in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation and is a PhD candidate on Ocean Sciences, Technology and Management, with a research grant funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation.
Márcia worked as a researcher on marine and environmental issues and in parallel co-coordinated the Portuguese Hub of the Atlantic Strategy´s Assistance Mechanism. She worked on several scientific projects and networks (CYTED Ecomar, Oceangov and Marcons COST Actions and Transatlantic MPAs).
She was Science Officer at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Comission´s Portuguese Committee, supporting projects, iniciatives and organizations, in close cooperation with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO. She also accompanied the national involvement in several international programs (GOOS, IODE, TSUNAMIS, etc).
Presently, Márcia Marques is working to the Ministry of the Sea (Portugal).
Ocean governance and management, climate change, biodiversity, environment management and sustainability are the main topics of her interest.
