Lydia Gaspare
I am a Lecturer and researcher at the University of Dar Es Salaam, School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology. I have more than 10 years of professional experience in teaching, research, and consultancy in marine fisheries and socio-ecological systems, Fishers' traditional knowledge, marine protected areas, conservation, and development. I have a good understanding, with broad knowledge, of the dynamics in tropical small-scale fisheries, management as well as capacity building.
I have experience in teaching various courses at the undergraduate level and I have supervised a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students in different areas related to marine fisheries systems dynamics and aquatic pollution. I have sound experience in technical aspects of histological analysis, Underwater Visual Census, determination of organic pollutants in environmental samples using GC/MS, and writing grant-seeking proposals and publishable papers.
I am an active member of various professional institutions, networks, and associations.
