I am a Researcher - Teacher at the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at the University of Toliara Madagascar for 11 years and since I teach and I do my research especially on mangroves and seagrass.
Since his doctoral research between 2012 and 2016, Gildas has been working on coral farming and coral bio-ecology within the Polyaquaculture Research Unit (PRU) of the Fishery and Marine Science Institute of the University of Toliara, Madagascar.
I am a marine ecologist with bias towards conservation, rehabilitation and sustainable utilisation of mangrove resources. I have developed expertise in the field of ecological mangroves restoration, carbon financing, integrated coastal area management, climate change mitigation/adaptations, and integrated management of mangrove areas.
Trained at BSc level as a general marine ecologist. At MSc level specialized as a seagrass ecologist, and at PhD level as a mangrove and fish ecologist.
Salomão Bandeira holds a PhD from Gothenburg University (Sweden), currently Associate Professor at UEM, Mozambique and was visiting to University of Cape Verde PhD program (2014-2017).
My marine research career started in the early 1990s at the Ministry of Fisheries. In 2001, I joined the Mauritius Oceanography Institute where I am currently the Director. My pre and post doctoral experience stem from participation in several local, regional and international projects in coral taxonomy, coral reef ecology, phylogenetics, phylogeography and population genetics.
