Lenice currently serves as a project manager (Science & Policy) for CORDIO East Africa. She has over nine years of experience working on development-focused projects from 2010, transitioning to more research-oriented work in 2014.  Her past six years have focused on transforming coastal and marine resource management within Western Indian Ocean region (WIO) through research, encompassing multilevel climate change adaptation and governance; community-based natural resource management with a focus on artisanal fisheries management and community-driven management of marine litter.

She has expertise in coordinating stakeholder engagement processes with first-hand experience working in multi-cultural, multidisciplinary teams and with different stakeholder groups in the WIO. Identifying and establishing linkages to governance processes has been key at the regional, national and sub-national levels where CORDIO can provide technical backstopping; facilitating dialogues using different participatory frameworks that enable stakeholders to innovatively reflect on pertinent issues and generate locally relevant solutions.

This has been aimed at linking knowledge and governance to improve the resilience of coastal communities and infrastructure to the impacts of global changes within the broader context of Integrated Ocean Management.
