The Nairobi Convention, through the GEF-funded SAPPHIRE and WIOSAP projects, supported the development of a Draft Regional Framework for Ecosystem Monitoring in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO). The framework aims to standardize national ecosystem monitoring efforts, address gaps in coverage, and align monitoring programs with regional priorities and global commitments.
