The meeting aimed to discuss progress in conserving and managing Blue Carbon Ecosystems (BCEs) in the region, aligning with global and policy commitments. The objectives included reviewing the status of BCEs, aligning with global priorities, promoting an understanding of blue carbon's importance in climate change, enhancing partnerships, and exploring financing mechanisms. The expected outcomes were an improved understanding of BCE status, alignment with global priorities, increased awareness of BCE importance in climate change, the proposal of a regional Biodiversity Framework, and suggestions for sustainable financing for BCE conservation and management.
