Francis started his career working for the French Ministry of Environment, then the World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C. at the Environment Department before becoming a consultant. He has been working for more than 20 years in providing services related to the conservation and sustainable use of natural – terrestrial, coastal and marine – resources including international cooperation projects development, implementation and evaluation worldwide.

My professional career has primarily focused on human-shark conflict and shark and ray ecology, conservation and management.
I have been working at the Ministry for Environment for the past 21 years in Coastal Zone Management . I specialise in erosion and coastal protection works .
I also have experience in environment impact assessment and environmental pollution abatement.
Design, management and delivery of marine projects within the Africa programme with FFI. Our work is taking place mainly via partnerships with local organisations and is centred on a set of community-centred approaches to empower locally-led management and conservation, and related relevant policies' engagement.
Previous professional experiences in development and CBNRM in the Western Indian Ocean region (Madagascar, european overseas territories, Comoros) and with humanitarian NGOs in Central Africa. Educational background on tropical agronomy and rural development.

Josheena's doctoral work is situated at the nexus of political ecology and marine policy and focuses on adaptive management of marine protected areas (MPAs), community inclusion, environmental justice, and the valorization of natural and cultural heritage in marine governance. Josheena’s community-based scholarship explores the complexities of local environmental stewardship efforts and environmental identity in a post-colonial context.
