I am a Lecturer and researcher at the University of Dar Es Salaam, School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology. I have more than 10 years of professional experience in teaching, research, and consultancy in marine fisheries and socio-ecological systems, Fishers' traditional knowledge, marine protected areas, conservation, and development. I have a good understanding, with broad knowledge, of the dynamics in tropical small-scale fisheries, management as well as capacity building.

My educational background is fisheries and Aquaculture with a Master's degree in Fisheries science. My expertise is fisheries and Aquaculture value chain, with working experience of over 12 years in fisheries and management, resource monitoring, and fisheries project management. My aquaculture expertise focuses more on marine fish species while fisheries management based on both inland water and marine fisheries.

Worked as an intern at Kenya Marine fisheries and Research Institute Gazi substation for a period of three months.
Served as a treasurer for Nature club Karatina university for a period of two years.Voluntered at Mpala research center Rabies vaccination campaign for a period two years.Due to attending different trainings and mentorship programs ,I have gained knowledge concerning environmental cases and conservation practices.

I'm an environmental analytical chemist with a special interest in microplastics pollution in East African marine waters and is currently in the final year undertaking a Ph.D. in Environmental Analytical Chemistry at Pwani University, Kilifi, Kenya, studying microplastic pollution in water, sediments and looking into possible risks of microplastics in the marine environment.
I have extensive experience developing and implementing multi- and transdisciplinary projects focused on marine biotechnology, sustainable aquaculture/mariculture, and seafood traceability. Knowledge and a passion for all things algae (microalgae and seaweed). Passionate about science-based community-led marine conservation initiatives for the WIO - especially innovative thinking in marine.
